Time and Tide in Uyo

Uyo is located along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Due to this geography, you can expect rainfall almost throughout the year, as I did experience during my time there in November 2023. For the 12 days I was there, it rained almost every day—rain or drizzle, there was always water pouring from the heavens.

When the rains won’t stop and the people cannot afford to stay indoors, what follows is a means of survival that births innovation: umbrellas over motorcycles, to shield both rider and passenger from fire and water.
